Can I give my baby rice milk?

Babies can be started on whole milk or cow’s milk when they are 12 months or older. But, some babies are lactose intolerant and thus, some milk alternatives such as Rice milk can be useful.

Question: Can I give my baby rice milk?

Answer: Not recommended as it has low-fat content; try Almond Milk or Soy Milk; if you must, use Fortified Rice Milk

For the first six months, babies should be fed breast milk or formula only. After 6 months, mushed pureed food is gently introduced to the baby. At the 12 month mark, they can be started on cow’s milk or whole milk.

If your baby is lactose intolerant, you should try Almond Milk or Soy Milk first. These have a higher fat content than Rice milk.

If you must use Rice Milk, use Fortified Rice Milk which has added vitamins and nutrients: like Vitamins A and D, some B vitamins, calcium and iron.
